FM reiterates Morocco’s commitment to strengthen the UfM

Rabat –
Foreign Minister, Taib Fassi Fihri, reiterated Morocco’s commitment to work towards the strengthening of the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) as partnership adequate framework to accelerate regional integration between the two shores of the Mediterranean.

This integration must be achieved, particularly through the implementation of six strategic projects approved by the Paris summit in July 2008, the Minister said in a meeting, on Monday in Rabat, with Secretary General of the UfM, Youssef Amrani.

A statement of the Foreign Ministry said that “Morocco is fully convinced that the UfM has all the legitimacy and the potential to give a geopolitical sense to the Mediterranean.”

Fassi Fihri reiterated Morocco’s willingness to achieve the project of creating a Euro-Mediterranean University in Fez, and urged the Secretary General of the Union for the Mediterranean to support the kingdom in this ambitious project.

He also said that education and training must be adopted as structural elements for a common in the Mediterranean to improve competitiveness and innovation.
