Nouakchott – Foreign Minister Saad Dine El Othmani handed, on Tuesday in Nouakchott, a message sent from HM King Mohammed VI to Mauritanian President Mohamed Ould Abdelaziz .
El Othmani, who is paying a working visit to Mauritania, handed the Royal message to President Mohamed Ould Abdelaziz during an audience attended by Mauritanian Foreign Minister Hamadi Ould Hamadi and Morocco’s ambassador to Mauritania Abderrahmane Benomar.
In a statement to the press, El Otmani said that the royal message includes an invitation from HM the King to Ould Abdelaziz to pay a visit to Morocco for which a date will be set in the future, adding that this visit is part of the new dynamic triggered in the Maghreb region and Morocco’s renovated strategy as far as ties with Mauritania are concerned.
He said that his meeting with the Mauritanian head of state touched on means to bestow a new dimension on bilateral relations through a program aimed at fostering Moroccan-Mauritanian cooperation which he termed as “excellent”.
The two parties also agreed to hold a meeting by the Moroccan-Mauritanian joint committee for which a date will be set later.
He said that the talks with his Mauritanian counterpart will turn on a road map for the development of bilateral relations.
El Otmani expressed the determination of all components of the Arab Maghreb Union to revitalize this regional grouping.
