Brussels -The Fisheries Committee of the European Parliament approved during a vote, on Tuesday in Brussels, to extend the Morocco-EU Fisheries Agreement.
The Committee voted 12 to eight in favour with one abstention for a one-year extension of the Agreement.
This approval strengthens Morocco’s position, as the country has launched forward-looking projects within the framework of its fisheries strategy which aims at reinforcing the sector’s competitiveness.
This vote comes also after Euroopean Parliament rejected a hostile bid toward Morocco asking the European Court of Justice to rule on whether the agreement complied with EU and international law.
After this approval, the entire European Parliament is expected to vote on the Agreement next December.
