MARIGNANE, France, April 5 (UPI) –Eurocopter of France is spotlighting its multi-role AS550 Fennec, which is equipped with rockets and a 20mm gun, at this week’s Marrakech Air Show in Morocco.
“This year’s Marrakech Air Show underscores a 50-year relationship of Eurocopter and Morocco that has been based on a spirit of confidence and loyalty, with a full range of our products serving the kingdom — from the cornerstone Alouette to the latest EC225,” said Loic Porcheron, Eurocopter vice president for Middle East and Africa.
“Eurocopter stands ready to continue supporting Morocco’s evolving mission requirements over the long-term.”
The Moroccan air force flies the company’s SA342 Gazelle and AS330 Puma for armed reconnaissance missions, troop transport and support and logistics. The Moroccan navy operates AS565 Panthers for search-and-rescue and coastal surveillance.
Eurocopter said more than 600 of its helicopters are being flown throughout Africa and the Middle East by government agencies, military forces and by commercial enterprises.
Eurocopter is a division of EADS.
