Rabat   –  Dozens of Moroccan citizens living in Syria returned to their homeland amid deteriorating security conditions and flaring violence in the Middle Eastern country.

Morocco’s Embassy in Damascus ensured the repatriation of dozens of Moroccans, the Arabic speaking daily Assahara Al Maghribia reported on Monday.

Financial mechanisms have been put under the disposal of the Moroccan Embassy to cover the travelling costs of the members of the Moroccan community in Syria wishing to return to the Kingdom, the paper quoted an official from the Ministry of the Moroccans Living Abroad as saying.

All Moroccans wishing to be evacuated to the Kingdom are eligible to the operation which continues despite the withdrawal of Morocco’s Ambassador to Damascus, the same source added.
