Morgan Hotels Group has officially opened a luxury Delano resort in Marrakech.
The Delano took over a newly built 71-room boutique hotel that once was supposed to open as another hotel called the Pearl.
As the Delano, the property hopes to attract hip travelers with its two restaurants, Pomiroeu and Namazake; a top-notch spa with authentic Moroccan hammams; three pools, and a nightclub.
Guests can expect crisp white linens, toiletries by Malin + Goetz, traditional Moroccan lighting — and iPads in every room.
Located in the center of the Hivernage District, the Delano’s room rates start at about $230 a night.
It was designed by the noted Jacques Garcia, who helped create the distinctive, romantic look for New York’s Nomad hotel which opened earlier this year.
For Morgan, the Marrakech hotel represents the latest victory in the company’s attempt to transform the famed Delano boutique hotel in Miami’s South Beach into a hip, global, luxury hotel brand.
Morgan is working on hotels in London, Moscow, Abu Dhabi and Las Vegas.
(See Hotel Check-In’s story about the Las Vegas property, which will be located in one of the towers at MGM’s Mandalay Bay.)
