For DailyFresh Logistics, a European specialist in the transport and logistics of fresh produce, the Moroccan season kicked off once again last week. In conjunction with French shipping firm CMA CGM, the company provides a weekly intermodal service between Agadir, Morocco and a large number of destinations in North West Europe. Launched last week, the regular service will continue until the end of April 2012, depending on the development of the season. In providing the service, DailyFresh Logistics is building on the knowledge and experience it has gained on this route in recent years.
Following the launch of this logistics concept in 2009 and the success of the subsequent campaign in 2010, a growing number of Moroccan exporters and European buyers are becoming convinced of the added value of the intermodal link. The Moroccan products are shipped from Agadir to Dunkirk, France in 40’ and 45’ reefer containers, where they are forwarded to their ultimate destination. In the run-up to the Moroccan season, it became clear that the logistics concept is once again attracting considerable interest this year.
DailyFresh Logistics operates its own consolidation centre in the port of Dunkirk, which serves as a logistics hub for a fast and effective link between transport by sea and distribution by road. Every Friday, a CMA CGM container ship departs from Agadir, sailing via Portsmouth in the UK to the port of Dunkirk, where it arrives the following Wednesday.
