Communication Ministry Issues 2012 Report On Freedom Of The Press

Rabat  –  The Communication Ministry has published its 2012 report on efforts to promote freedom of the press, the first of its kind after the adoption of the new constitution.

The report includes two broad lines related to the general system of reference of press freedom and  80 indices of this liberty in 2012.

The report, drafted in collaboration with the Institute of Information and Communication and with the participation of several bodies, aims to develop communication with the competent national and international organizations.

It also includes appendices containing statistics and data on journalists, recommendations on freedom of the press and links to specialized web sites.

According to the preamble, this document reviews efforts made last year to promote freedom of the press, concerning newspapers and TV and radio channels, in conformity with indices that enable to identify challenges and opportunities, especially regarding the right of access to information.
