CMA CGM said its new service between Morocco and Europe will provide “tailor made” logistics solutions for the North African nation’s fruit and vegetable exporters and shorten voyage times to the growing Russian market.

The weekly Dunkrus Express service, launching in early November, is part of the growing containerization of products that were transported to Europe almost exclusively by refrigerated trucks four years ago, the French carrier said.

The rotation of the new service, deploying two vessels each with a capacity of 1,000 20-foot-equivalent units including 220 reefer plugs, is Casablanca, Agadir, Dunkirk, Antwerp, and back to Casablanca.

There will be a transshipment connection on the day of arrival in Dunkirk for St. Petersburg on CMA CGM’s Baltic service.

The Dunkrus Express service will link Agadir to Dunkirk in four days and to St. Petersburg in 10.5 days. At present CMA CGM connects Morocco and Russia in 14 days, which is suitable for the shelf life of its citrus fruit but not vegetables.

The Dunkrus Express service is being complemented by a reconfiguration of the current Agadir Express service, with a new weekly service linking Casablanca, Agadir, Portsmouth [UK], Rotterdam and Le Havre starting in mid-October.

CMA CGM is also adding a second weekly call to its existing service between Agadir and Port Vendres on France’s southwest Mediterranean coast.
