Rabat – A galaxy of world-renowned movie stars and artists will attend the eleventh edition of Marrakech International Film Festival (FIFM), to be held on December 2-10.
For some actors, directors and critics, it is their first visit to discover the charm and splendor of the Red city. For others, it is a return to an imperial Moroccan city that will host one of Africa’s biggest cinema events.
Among the well-known cinema stars who will return to Marrakech to take part in the festival, Hollywood actress Sigourney Weaver, who will chair the short film jury.
The first short film competition was launched in 2010 with a view to encouraging students from Moroccan cinema institutes.
The multi-award winner director and musician Emir Kusturica is also back to Marrakech to chair the feature film jury, which also includes US actress Jessica Chastain, Filipino director Brillante Mendoza, French Director and Actress Nicole Garcia, Romanian director and screenwriter Radu Mihaileanu, Italian actress Maya Sansa and Indian director, screenwriter and actress Aparna Sen.
This year’s edition will celebrate Mexico’s younger generation of filmmakers.
