Rabat – UN Secretary General personal envoy for the Sahara Christopher Ross will arrive late this week in Morocco as part of a working visit, a statement by the Foreign Affairs Ministry said on Thursday.
This visit is part of efforts made to revive the political process seeking to find a final and consensual political solution to the regional dispute over the Moroccan Sahara, it added.
This visit comes following the phone conversation, on August 25, between HM King Mohammed VI and UNSG Ban Ki-moon, and which was an occasion to emphasize the pressing need to achieve progress in the settlement process on the solid and healthy bases, and abide by the clear parameters laid in the UNSC resolutions and, particularly, show realism and a spirit of compromise and recognize the seriousness and credibility of efforts made by Morocco within the framework of the autonomy initiative, it said.
