RABAT, April 11 (Xinhua) — A senior Chinese legislator said China is willing to work with Morocco to promote communication and cooperation between legislative organs from both sides.

Cao Jianming, vice chairperson of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress, or China’s national legislature, made the remarks during a visit to Morocco from April 8 to 11.

“China is willing to work with Morocco to implement the consensus reached by both leaders, as well as achievements made by the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation and the China-Arab States Cooperation Forum,” Cao said.

He held talks with Habib El Malki, president of Morocco’s House of Representatives, and met separately with Moroccan Prime Minister Saadeddine Othmani and Vice President of the House of Councillors Abdelhamid Souiri.

China and Morocco established a strategic partnership in 2016, taking bilateral relations to a new high, Cao said.

Meanwhile, the Moroccan side spoke highly of the strategic partnership between the two countries and the cooperation under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative, expressing willingness to further promote communication between both legislative organs and increase mutual political trust.

Morocco is also willing to make achievements in fields of economy and trade, investment, tourism, science and technology and culture to bring welfare to both peoples.
