Tangier: Chief of the Amiri Diwan, H E Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdul Aziz Al Thani, yesterday inaugurated the first phase of Qatari Diar’s Al Houara resort in the Kingdom of Morocco’s Tangier.
The inauguration was attended by Morocco’s Minister of Tourism, Air Transport, Handicraft and Social Economy, Mohamed Sajid; Governor of Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region, Mohamed Mhidia; and a number of ranking officials from Qatari Diar and from Morocco’s economic, tourism and investment sectors.
The project’s first phase includes the construction of a Hilton Luxury Hotel and an 18-hole golf course. The Houara Resort is one of the world’s leading tourism projects with an area of 234,000 hectares and embodies the strength of brotherly relations between the two countries and peoples.
The opening of this phase comes within the new strategic plan of the project announced by the CEO of Qatari Diar, Abdullah bin Hamad Al Attiyah, in his first visit to the project’s site last October. It also demonstrates Qatari Diar’s ability to deliver international projects efficiently and effectively within its pre-defined delivery plans.
The Morocco’s Minister of Tourism said that the project is a great addition to tourism in the Kingdom of Morocco and in the state of Tangier in particular and a clear indication of the depth of the Qatari-Moroccan relations. He thanked Qatari Diar for completing the first phase of the project, and added that they were ready to help face any challenges facing the completion of the project.
For his part, Al Attiyah said that the company is laser-focused on becoming a market leader in its regional market, and on offering high quality lifestyle and innovations in real estate development.
He added that the company was in a race against time to finish all the projects it currently has, and to develop more of its assets and investments around the world. He stressed that completing the first phase of the Houara resort is a new achievement added to the company’s records, and added that it also helps the State of Qatar make its mark on the tourism sector in the Kingdom of Morocco.
He added that the features of the project made it a landmark in real estate development around the world, particularly in tourism investment. He highlighted that the achievement made yesterday comes, despite previous challenges, within the framework of the plans set by the company. He paid tribute to the Moroccan side for their cooperation to ensure the completion of the project, expressing his confidence. The Hilton Tangier Al Houara has 304 rooms divided into a presidential suite, 17 luxury suites, 236 hotel rooms and 50 hotel apartment (studio and 2 bedroom apartments). The resort features a variety of events for a total area of 2,300 square meters, which can accommodate up to 1,500 people at the same time, as well as 10 meeting rooms equipped with state-of-the-art equipment and tools.
One of the most important facilities of the hotel are the three international restaurants with different cuisines equipped to receive approximately 418 guests at the same time. There is also a SPA managed by Eforea, a gym, swimming pools, children area to ensure the family can enjoy the most luxurious experience in Morocco.
The project is within 20 minutes drive from the center of Tangier and 10 minutes away from its International Airport. It has 2.5km of waterfront that includes residential and touristic properties on the beach. The golf course was designed by golf players Graham Marsh and Vijay Singh. It is managed by Troon, the international Golf and club management, development and marketing company. The infrastructure in terms of roads and sanitation were completed as well. The SPA and the golf course are also open.
