Chicago (USA) – Chicago’s Mayor and former secretary general of the white House, Rahm Emanuel, paid tribute to HM King Mohammed VI and commended Morocco’s model of centuries-old religious tolerance, openness and cultural melting pot.
“I would love to visit Morocco and take my kids to see the country in its tolerance for peoples of different cultures and faiths,” Rahm Emanuel told MAP on the sidelines of the 25th summit of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), hosted by Chicago.

He underlined that “Morocco has set up an environment where people of different religious backgrounds can live together. “Morocco is a testament for the future.”

On the holding of the summit in Chicago, he said that the city is the most American of American cities. “We are bringing the world to Chicago and Chicago to the world and that is a huge economic opportunity.”

Rahm Emanuel expressed his will to broaden cooperation between Chicago and Casablanca. “What I would like to do is to take the skills and the expertise that we are developing and export them as a way of teaching and servicing other cities about water management.”
