The legendary film Casablanca, starring Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman, and winner of three Academy Awards® including Best Picture (1944) – will celebrate its 70th Anniversary this year. To mark the occasion, for a limited time in February, Casablanca will back on the big screen with a cinematic re-release – just in time for Valentine’s Day. New special content will be available when you download the film from iTunes from 27th March, and it is also available on Blu-ray and DVD now.
For almost seven decades, Casablanca has remained a beloved film favourite around the world and snared numerous awards; including being voted the screen’s greatest love story and the #3 film of all time by the American Film Institute (AFI). This classic wartime romance also took home three Oscars® in 1944, for Michael Curtiz (Directing); Julius J. Epstein, Philip G. Epstein and Howard Koch (Writing – Screenplay) and the accolade for Best Film.
Casablanca: easy to enter, but much harder to leave, especially if you’re wanted by the Nazis. Such a man is Resistance leader Victor Laszlo (Paul Henreid), whose only hope is Rick Blaine (Humphrey Bogart), a cynical American who sticks his neck out for no one – especially Victor’s wife Ilsa (Ingrid Bergman), the ex-lover who broke his heart. Ilsa offers herself in exchange for Laszlo’s transport out of the country and bitter Rick must decide what counts more – personal happiness or countless lives hanging in the balance.
Casablanca in high-definition Blu-ray is not to be missed, and with all new content available via iTunes, an absolute must for any digital film collection. Casablanca will receive a limited cinema release between 10th and 23rd February 2012 – for further details visit – http://www.parkcircus.com/
