Beni Bouayach – Calm returned on Monday in the city of Beni Bouayach (northeastern Morocco) after three days of acts of vandalism perpetrated by a bunch of people who were protesting against the arrest of an individual suspected of committing several criminal acts.
Sources in the city said that traffic resumed after the forces of order succeeded in stopping vandals and protestors who took to the streets, since last Friday, and were behind many material damages and casualties among the members of the forces of order and demonstrators.
Security sources said that forces of order intervened following complaints lodged by citizens from the same city concerning the loss they sustained due to the protestors who sealed off the road linking Al Hoceima and Taza since March 2 and staged sit-ins that resulted in closing shops and denying people access to administrations.
