Rabat – Morocco’s GDP has grown by 4.8% in the third quarter of 2011, higher than the 3.9% rate recorded in the same period a year earlier, according to the High Planning Commission (HCP).

The economic activity was marked by a 4.9% rise in the volume of GDP outside agriculture compared to the same quarter in 2010, along with a 4.1% pick-up in agricultural value added.

The HCP said that non agricultural activities recorded positive trends despite deceleration in some activities such as process industries (1.9% against 3.2%) and transport services (3.7% against 6.2%).

It also noted that the economic demand was particularly boosted by domestic demand in the first quarter of the year.
