Raja Casablanca are poised to replace the Moroccan All-Stars team that was meant to face Barcelona in a friendly at the end of July
Barcelona will no longer face a team of Moroccan All-All Stars during their visit to the north African kingdom this month due to the refusal of some local clubs to release their players for the match. Instead Raja Casablancapresident Mohamed Boudrika is expected to sign an agreement on Wednesday for his team to face the Catalans in Tangiers on July 28.
The initial friendly had faced many hurdles but the final blow was dealt when the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) distanced itself from organisational duties, leading many local clubs to do the same for fear of their players suffering injuries before the new domestic season begins.
An All-Star team was originally set to be lead by current FAR Rabat head coach Rachid Taoussi but now it looks as if Raja Casablanca coach Mohamed Fakhir will be given the opportunity of facing that La Liga giants instead.
