Barcelo Hotel Group is expanding its footprint in Morocco.
The Spanish hotel company entered into a management agreement for two new properties in the country, the four-star Almohades Tangier and Almohades Agadir.
Both hotels will be renovated and rebranded. The Almohades Tangier will become the 138-room Barcelo Tangier. The Almohades Agadir, which currently has 321 guestrooms, will transform into the Allegro Agadir.
While both hotels are four-star properties, they are very different.
The Allegro Agadir is a well-known seaside resort. It currently offers two restaurants, three bars and lounges, a nightclub, a kids’ club, an outdoor swimming pool, a children’s pool, a playground, tennis and basketball courts and more. It’s just a short walk to the beach, the Agadir Open Air Theatre, the Royal Palace and several other tourist sites.
The Barcelo Tangier is in a more urban destination but also offers a seaside setting with views of the Mediterranean. There are currently two restaurants, an outdoor pool, a nightclub, free Wi-Fi access and more. It is a 15-minute walk to the beach, 20 minutes to the ferry terminal, 15 minutes from the Tangier City Mall and it is located close to the historic center of the city.
In addition to these two resorts, Barcelo operates the Barcelo Casablanca and Barcelo Fes Medina in Fez. The hotel brand is also adding an additional property in Casablanca, the five-star Barcelo Anfa Casablanca, scheduled to open at the end of this year in the heart of Morocco’s financial center.
“We are very pleased to continue our expansion in Morocco, expanding our offer to two well-established holiday destinations for both the local and international markets such as Tangier and Agadir,” said Jaime Buxo, general director of business development for Barcelo Hotel Group.
