BIRMINGHAM, Alabama — B.L. Harbert International LLC will build a new $139.7 million U.S. embassy compound in Rabat, Morocco for the U.S. Department of State, the company said today.
The design-build project is slated to start late next month and take three years to build. It will house U.S diplomatic functions in the African country.
B.L. Harbert International has built or is building more than two dozen U.S. embassies around the world, including the $734 million embassy in Islamabad, Pakistan, now under construction. Embassy construction now makes up 100 percent of its international work and two-thirds of its overall business.
The company is currently building a new $12 million corporate campus at 210 London Parkway in the Lakeshore Crossings office park. The campus will have a 38,000-square-foot office and a 38,000-square-foot distribution center.
