Rabat – US senator Joseph Lieberman described the Moroccan autonomy proposal as “serious and credible”, hoping that this initiative makes headway as soon as possible.
“I reiterated my unwavering stance that the policy adopted by Morocco in dealing with the Sahara issue and which is supposed to lead to autonomy is good and realistic,” the senator said, Wednesday in Rabat, following a meeting with Foreign Minister Saad Dine El Otmani.
He added that speeding up the implementation of this initiative will contribute to establishing stability in the region.
The senator also voiced admiration for the political changes carried out by HM King Mohammed VI, underlining that Morocco’s peaceful transition is a model for other countries.
The meeting touched also on international issues as the situation in Syria and Mali, and the impact of the European crisis on Morocco.
