Spice up your life: Go shopping in the souk in Marrakech

QUESTION: I’m totally fed up with our arctic weather; I don’t want to travel far but need some sunshine. I don’t really want just to flop by a pool, so can you suggest anything that might grab my imagination but isn’t too much like hard work? Stella, by email

ANSWER: Morocco offers a good mix of culture and adventure. It’s just a three-hour flight, and blue skies and sunshine are guaranteed in March. Try a new trip with Healthy Options (0844 499 2909, yoga-in-the-sun.co.uk), departing on March 2, 9, 16 and 23 and staying in a luxury hotel on the outskirts of Marrakech with beautiful grounds, a spa and 50m pool. You can choose from up to five yoga, Pilates and fitness classes a day taught by British professionals (with a free personal one-hour session if you fancy something new).

In addition, there are trips to the High Atlas Mountains, the souks of Marrakech and into the desert for yoga under the stars, and a hammam with full body scrub, all included. You choose to dip in or out as you wish on a daily basis. It costs from £875 per person for seven nights’ five-star accommodation with breakfast and dinner, all classes, the trips and airport transfers – but not flights.
