RABAT, Nov 3 (KUNA) — The EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton is expected to arrive here on Monday for a working visit to the Kingdom of Morocco.
During the visit, the first of its kind, she will hold talks with the Moroccan leaders on the EU neighborhood policy, the regional integration of the Arab Maghreb region and the security situation in the Sahel region.
The talks will also tackle the dramatic changes in the south Mediterranean region and the EU-Moroccan special partnership, according to a statement issued by the European Commission.
The EU supports the political and economic reforms in Morocco and follows up with interest the enforcement of the Kingdom’s new constitution, adopted on July 1, 2011, it pointed out.
Morocco is one of the main beneficiaries of the EU financial assistances; it receives EU grants amounting to more than six million dirhams (some USD 698, 653) between 2011 and 2013, the statement added.
