The resolution 2012/497/EU, which was officially made public on 7 September 2012, specifies the rules applicable to the liberalization of the mutual trade in agricultural products between the European Union and the kingdom of Morocco. Especially the quantities of tomatoes, cucumbers, courgettes, artichoke, oranges, clementines, table grapes, apricots, peaches and nectarines allowed to be imported free of duty.
Also the import price is made clear. The agreement makes clear that the mechanism of import prices remains in force. After the agreement becomes operational the European Union will grant favourable concessions regarding import prices to a Mediterranean partner country, the EU will grant these immediately to Morocco as well.
In addition the two parties have agreed that, at the latest, three months after the date the agreement became operational, to negotiate the promotion, establishment of values and the protection of the quality product and quality hallmarks in line with the terms of Euromed for agriculture (2005).
