UAE’s Ali Al Suwaidi won the silver in the youth 55kg category in the judo competition of the 16th Armed Forces Officers Club (AFOC) Ramadan Sports Festival at the club premises, late on Saturday night.
Ali Al Suwaidi lost Habib Mohammad of Kuwait. UAE’s Mohammad Al Yamahi and Falah Abdulla won the bronze.
The Ramadan Sports Festival is being held under the patronage of Shaikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Presidential Affairs.
UAE’s Khalifa Al Housani won the silver and compatriot Rashid Obaid won the silver in the youth 66kg segment. The gold was won by Osama Bujalal of Algeria. Kuwait’s Jarrah Al Sabbah too won the bronze.
Qarni Al Arabi from Algeria won the gold medal in the 73kg category with Ahmad Al Enazy from Kuwait in second place. Fahad Mohammad from Bahrain and Bujala Bilal form Algeria won the bronze medals.
In the 90kg, Hassan Moussa from Tunisa won the gold, while Gadeer Abdul Aali from Morocco won the silver leaving the bronze to Adnan Mudaithir from Morocco and Mohammad Esmail from Somalia.
Eissa Khalid from Kuwait won the Open category, while Adnan Mudaithir from Morocco won the silver. Abdulla Saleh from Kuwait and Bujalal Bilal from Algeria won the bronze.
Kuwait players dominate the Open category for the youth with Bahar Al Matrook winning the gold while his compatriots Yousuf Dashti won the silver and Hosham Abbass and Kamal Hassan won the bronze.
Shaikh Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Khalid Al Nahyan, the Chairman of Al Ain Club, attended the competition and awarded the trophies and medals to the winners of the Judo, Bowling and PlayStation competitions.
Shaikh Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Khalid Al Nahyan and the organisers honoured young UAE judoka Humaid Al Darie after he returned from London after representing the country in the Olympic Games.
“I am grateful to Shaikh Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Khalid Al Nahyan and the organisers for this gesture and this honouring means a lot to me and will be a motive for me to do my ever best for my country in the future.”Al Darie said.
“I am sure that the participation of the Arab’s best Judo players in this festival will lead to the improvement of the game in our country,” he added.
“I am pleased to see the exciting competitions and I am sure that these highly qualified players will help our youngsters to gain experience and improve their game.” Shaikh Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Khalid Al Nahyan, said.
The National Drilling Company (NDC) won third place in the men’s five-a-side football competition by blanking Adam 3-0. Attif Abdul Azim, Hosham Rizq and Ahmad Mohammad scored for NDC.
In the women’s competition, Abu Dhabi Club ‘A’ beat their ‘B’ team 5-1 with Asma Aouda scoring a brace. Sara Hassanain, Dina Zarouqi and Nada Awadh added one each. Khadija Thani scored the consolation goal for Abu Dhabi Club ‘B.’
