Elisabete Jacinto from Portugal and Valérie Dot finished the fourth stage of the 23rd “Aïcha des Gazelles” women´s-rally in the top positions in their Volkswagen Amarok.
The duo number 160 completed the two-day marathon journey, which included a total of 310 kilometers, without missing any of the ten passages marked in the path with and ended with a penalty of just 20 kilometers.
The Portuguese driver continues to show great skills in this rally that she leads since the first stage. Four journeys are now fulfilled and Elisabete Jacinto is increasingly closer to the goal of winning this edition of the “Aïcha” which has 150 teams in competition.
“The marathon stage ran us very well” Jacinto said. “This time we didn’t find any team to get together and we had to sleep all alone in the desert. We made excellent choices and fulfill a perfect straight line. Obviously, there were times when it was difficult because there were impossible paths to overcome, but I think our performance was very positive.”In the fifth stage of the Aicha des Gazelles participants leave towards Mhamid. The rally still has one more marathon journey to fulfill that will cross the Erg Cheggagga.
