Morocco is boosting its tourism sector in cooperation with Qatar, Kuwait and the UAE
Director General of Moroccan Fund for Tourism Development partnership says agreement will add special impetus to investment in Morocco’s tourism sector.
RABAT – Director General of the Moroccan Fund for Tourism Development, Tarik Senhaji, made a presentation during the signing ceremony to highlight the importance of partnership between Morocco and Qatar, Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates in tourism.
Senhaji said the significant contribution of the Gulf brotherly countries to the Moroccan Fund for Tourism Development mirrors the mutual trust existing between Morocco and these countries and confirms Morocco as an attractive market for tourism investment.
This partnership agreement, he said, will add a special impetus to investment in Morocco’s tourism sector.
Senhaji also highlighted the positive results of Morocco’s ambitious tourism development strategy dubbed, Vision-2010, launched in 2001.
The screening of a video film showcasing the mission of the new tourism Authority also marked the ceremony.
Afterwards, Economy and Finance Minister, Salahedine Mezouar, President of the board of directors of the Hassan II Fund for Economic and Social Development, Abdelouahed Kabbaj, CEO of Qatar Holding, Ahmad Mohamed Al-Sayed, Pesident of the Board of Directors of Aabar investments (Abu Dhabi), Khadem Abdallah Al-Qubaissi, and President of the Board of Directors of the Al-Ajial Investment Fund, Badr Al-Ojail, signed the partnership agreement to set up the Moroccan Authority for Tourism Investment.
King Mohammed VI and his guests were later on briefed on two tourism development projects to be implemented in Ouarzazate (530km south-east of Rabat) and Oukaimden, near Marrakesh.
The first project to be carried out in Ouarzazate, a world famed destination for film-makers, will include hotels, a museum, golf courses as well as a center for cinema-related activities.
Under the second project, a skiing resort will be built in Oukaimden including hotels, residence compounds, a medina, a conference center, a theater complex, restaurants and golf courses.
