AfDB Willing To Fund Water, Sewage Projects In Morocco

Ouezd Zem (Province of Khouribga) – The African Development Bank (AfDB) said it is willing to fund water and sewage projects in Morocco, the Bank representative in the kingdom, Amani Abou Zeid said.

Speaking to MAP, Abou Zeid stressed the importance of the two water sanitation projects inaugurated on Friday by HM King Mohammed VI in Bejaâd and Oued Zem.

She said the two projects will help enhance the health and living conditions of citizens and will have a positive impact on the social and economic development of the two cities.

Worth 320 million dirhams, 70% of which is funded by the AfDB, the projects provide for the establishment of two wastewater purification plan in Oued Zem and Bejaad, for a cost of 50 million dirhams and 47 million dirhams respectively.

The AfDB official noted that the purified water will be used for irrigation purposes.
