Asilah -Moroccan telecommunications operator Maroc Telecom launched, on Monday in Asilah (north-western Morocco), a 187 km-length international submarine cable Fibre optics called Loukkos, which connects the cities of Asilah and Rota (southern Spain).

With an initial capacity of 80 gigabits per second, expandable to 1280 Gigabits, the cable aims to link Morocco to the major Internet and telecommunications operators.

The cable, which will be operational by next March, will meet the growing demand for international capacity offshoring activities, especially call centres, according to a statement from Morocco Telecom.
