Fez, January 7 – Morocco has played a key role in the Euro-Mediterranean process, underscored the Vice President of the European Parlimanet Rodi Kratsa-Tsagaropoulou on Friday in Fez.

Morocco is a privileged interlocutor for the EU, said Kratsa-Tsagaropoulou who was awarded a honorari causa degree by the Sidi Mohammed Ben ABdellah University, Fez, in recognition of her efforts to bring the countries of the Mediterranean closer.

She added that Morocco’s place was strengthened by the partnership with Union for the Mediterranean and by the Advanced Status, which the Kingdom enjoys in its relations with the EU.

Cooperation and partnership between the EU and Morocco are more important than ever and strengthening relations between the two parties is crucial to meeting the challenges of globalization and the global economic crisis, she said.

Kratsa-Tsagaropoulou also voiced hope to see a new fisheries agreement inked with Morocco.
