Istanbul, January 7 – The Justice and Development Party (PJD) will spare no effort to promote political freedoms and social justice, said Saad Eddine El Othmani, who was appointed Foreign Minister in the new government.
“We have presented our project to the Moroccan people, who are looking forward to see them implemented,” said El Othmani in a statement to the Turkish news agency, Anadolu.
The PJD which leads the new government following the legislative elections of November 25 will endeavour to foster political freedoms, eradicate poverty and establish social justice in order to face the repercussions of the international economic crisis, said El Othmani, the Head of the PJD national council.
The PJD projects were approved and supported by the Moroccan people, he said.
Although it spent 15 years in the opposition, the PJD gained a considerable experience through running several communes for years, noted El Othmani.
The wave towards greater democracy in North Africa and the Middle East demonstrates the willingness of the region’s peoples and any attempt by states to thwart such willingness will lead to popular uprisings, El Othmani said.
