Washington – The U.S. government welcomed on Tuesday the appointment, by HM King Mohammed VI, of the new Moroccan government and expressed readiness to work with the new cabinet in order to consolidate democratic reforms.
“The United States stands ready to work with the new government and the people of Morocco to strengthen the rule of law, raise human rights standards, promote transparent and accountable governance, and work toward sustained, democratic reform that incorporates checks and balances,” Edgar J. Vasquez, a State Department spokesman, told MAP.
“The hard work of building democracy does not end after elections are complete and governments are formed,” he added.
