Yesterday, the UAE inaugurated the headquarters of its general consulate in the city of El-Ayoun, in the southern provinces of the sisterly Kingdom of Morocco.

His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, announced in his speech delivered yesterday, on this occasion through “remote” visual communication technology, the inauguration of a general consulate of the UAE in the Moroccan city of El-Ayoun, based on the decision of the country’s wise leadership.
Nasser Bourita, Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccans residing abroad, and modern Saeed Ahmed Al Dhaheri, the country’s ambassador to the Kingdom of Morocco, unveiled the commemorative plaque marking the opening of the headquarters of the UAE Consulate in El-Ayoun, in the presence of representatives of the diplomatic corps in El-Ayoun and officials of the local authorities in the city.
His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan said at the beginning of his speech: “It is my pleasure to convey to you the greetings of the leadership of the United Arab Emirates, in the forefront of which is His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, may God protect him, and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President of the State. The Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, may God protect him, and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces.

His Highness added: “I would like to emphasize that the UAE is keen to develop and strengthen its bilateral relations with brotherly and friendly countries and build bridges of communication and cooperation with them in a way that serves the interests and aspirations of our countries and peoples, and contributes to the efforts of development, development and progress in various levels, as the UAE has established a solid base of Distinguished relations with brotherly and friendly countries, through their approaches and policies based on mutual respect, trust, constructive cooperation and the promotion of global peace and stability.
His Highness affirmed that the UAE’s stance is firm in standing with brotherly Morocco in its just causes in regional and international forums, and we consider this a reflection of the sincere bonds and depth of brotherhood and a review of the fruitful cooperation relations and active solidarity that unites the UAE and the brotherly Kingdom of Morocco.
His Highness said: Based on the decision of the wise leadership in the United Arab Emirates, I am pleased to announce the opening of the Consulate General of the United Arab Emirates in the Moroccan city of Laayoune, and in this regard I would like to point out that this step is a translation of long-established historical Emirati-Moroccan relations and a strategic partnership based on the highest levels. Founded by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may God rest his soul, and King Hassan II since 1971, and it was strengthened with the participation of the UAE in the “Green March”. His Highness added: “It is also a continuation of the brilliant march of the unity of destiny and continuous cooperation, which was keen to support and develop the leaderships of the two countries, and documented a record of excellence, and the opening of the UAE consulate in the city of El-Ayoun will be one of the positive results of the solid relationship between the two brotherly countries.”

At the end of his speech, His Highness expressed his hope that the UAE consulate in El-Ayoun will play an important role in promoting positive opportunities towards expanding areas of mutual interest and deepening bilateral cooperation channels between us.
For his part, Al Asri Saeed Ahmed Al Dhaheri affirmed that the opening of the UAE Consulate General in El-Ayoun, Morocco confirms the constant and sincere keenness of the wise leadership of the Emirates to strengthen brotherly relations and solidarity with Morocco, adding that the opening of the consulate will contribute to strengthening relations at all commercial, economic, investment and cultural levels between the two brotherly countries.
