Gabon won their first major title by beating Morocco 2-1 in the African U23 Championship final, while Egypt joined them in qualifying for the London 2012 Olympic Games.

Morocco opened the scoring through Younes Mokhtar but Gabon fought back through goals from Landri Obang and Allen Nono.
With the top three sides from the African U23 Championship in Marrakesh automatically qualifying for London, Egypt – coached by former national team captain Hany Ramzy – won the third-fourth play-off 2-0 over Senegal.
Mohamed Abdel-Baset and Saleh Gomaa gave Egypt victory, compensating for their senior side’s failure to qualify for the African Cup of Nations.
Senegal must now win a play-off against an Asian side to qualify for the finals.
The football section of the Olympics is open to U23s, with each team allowed two over-age players.
