Morocco was elected on Thursday as chair of the General Assembly of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) for the 2019-2021 biennium, reported the official news agency MAP.
Morocco will be the first Arab and the second African country, after Nigeria, to preside over WIPO General Assembly since its creation in 1967, the agency added.
The meeting of the WIPO General Assembly, a UN organ, is taking place in Geneva through October 9, with over 1,000 delegates from over 190 member states attending.
