Galvanoplast, a French group specializing in anti-corrosion surface protection, inaugurated on Wednesday an industrial plant in the industrial platform of Tanger-Med.
This facility, the group’s first outside France, was made possible thanks to the progress of the Moroccan automotive ecosystem. The choice of Morocco was also dictated by the presence of car manufacturers Renault and Peugeot and by the proximity of Tangier Med port complex, Africa’s leading port.
The group injected a 140 million MAD investment in the plant, which started operations last October with 50 employees, a number set to increase to 120.
President of Galvanoplast Alexandre Cordonnier stressed that the choice of Morocco was made “for its economic dynamism”, and because of the presence of several customers of the group in Tangier.
Stressing that surface treatment is an important link in the automotive logistics chain, Mr. Cordonnier said that the group’s customers are mostly metal stamping companies settled in Moroccan free zones.
For his part, the chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Tangier Med Special Agency (TMSA), Fouad Brini, surveyed the attractiveness of Morocco for an increasing number of firms thanks to the respect of deadlines and the availability of highly qualified human resources.
