Le Piston, a French company manufacturing airplane and helicopter parts, will set up its second plant in Morocco for a total investment of €5 million, Moroccan media said.

The plant will be built in Casablanca over 4000 square meters and will produce parts that range up to 1.20 meters, Le Piston President said.

The new factory will be operational in 2020 and will employ some 65 people with the aim to expand the number to 150 employees by 2024.

Morocco has identified the aeronautical industry as one of the levers of its industrial strategy along with the automotive industry.

Morocco’s aeronautical industry is expected to grow by 20% in the next five years with promising prospects as exports hit $1.2 billion in 2017.

Employment in the sector grew by 50% to 15,000 jobs in 2017 with international giants tapping into Morocco’s air industry potential including Boeing, Airbus and Bombardier.

So far, 100% of Boeing cables are made in Morocco where 135 suppliers have set up production plants.
