REPRESENTATIVES of countries around the Atlantic basin under the aegis of the Atlantic Strategy Group on Global Trade would today converge on Rabat, the capital city of the Kingdom of Morocco, for a meeting to discuss ways to move the economy of the countries to greater heights.
The meeting tagged: “The Wider Atlantic Economy: An Integrated Space or at Risk?” aims among other issues to strengthen the ability of countries around the Atlantic basin north and south to assess shared challenges and to achieve common objectives.
Put together by the Policy Centre for the New South (Formerly OCP Policy Centre), an arm of the OCP Group, the 5th edition of the ASG meeting would also focus on global trade in the Atlantic region at a time when globalisation and trade regimes are under growing pressure.
According to the Policy Centre for the new South, global value chains are threatened by the temptation of the world economies to close and the fierce coming competition between the United States and China. As a highly integrated economic space, societies around the Atlantic basin have a great deal at stake.
