Groupe PSA is a French multinational manufacturer of automobiles and motorcycles sold under the Peugeot, Citroen, DS, Opel and Vauxhall brands.
The railway wagons will be used to transport newly-manufactured vehicles from Kenitra to Tangier port for export to European markets. Groupe PSA plans a production target of 200,000 vehicles per year by 2020 at the Kenitra plant, located 40 km north of Rabat.
By end-2019, a further 45 wagons will be transported from Saint-Nazaire port in France to Tangier port in Morocco.
The wagons will be operated by Office National des Chemins de Fer (ONCF), transporting vehicles from Groupe PSA’s plant in Kenitra to Tangier port, before they are exported to Europe.
“We’re very pleased Groupe PSA has trusted GEFCO with this exciting project and we’re confident we have the right expertise and capabilities to make it a success, explained Anne Lambusson, Executive Vice President in Charge of the Groupe PSA account at GEFCO.”
