LONDON (Alliance News) – Emmerson PLC said Thursday that a seismic study at its Khemisset Potash project in Northern Morocco found “no major faulting” in the area.

The Moroccan-focused potash development company said the results of the study are likely “to be a significant positive for underground mining”.

Chief Executive Officer Hayden Locke said: “We continue to be pleased by developments which confirm our view that the Khemisset ore body will likely be amenable to simple, conventional, underground mining methods.”

Locke added: “The indication of limited faulting will positively impact the overall mine design, resulting in lowered overall mining costs per tonne of ore and lower general design risk.”

Emmerson is currently carrying out a scoping study at the project which is targeted to be delivered in the first quarter of 2019.

Emmerson shares were flat at 3.00 pence each on Thursday.
