Morocco expects to attract Russian investors into its fish processing sector during the ongoing Global Fishery Forum and Seafood Expo in Russia’s St. Petersburg, Moroccan Agriculture Minister Aziz Akhannouch told Sputnik on Friday.

“We have deep cooperation in this industry with Russia. We export our products to Russia and we hope to find prospective Russian partners, investors and clients at the forum,” Akhannouch said on the sidelines of the event.

The minister added that Morocco wanted to attract new investment into its aquaculture sector as it helped to create new jobs and boost the country’s economy.

Speaking about cooperation with other countries, Akhannouch stressed the importance of investing into agricultural and food sector in Africa because its growing population was putting serious pressure on the domestic food market.

The second Global Fishery Forum and Seafood Expo in St. Petersburg exhibiting new products and brands in the industry opened on Thursday and will last through Saturday.
