The number of passengers travelling through Moroccan airports reached 10.45 million during the first half of 2018, up 13 percent year on year, the Moroccan Airports Authority (ONDA) said Tuesday.
Between January and June, 9.32 million passengers took international flights, up 12.69 percent than the same period last year, while the number of passengers taking domestic flights increased by 15.39 percent to 1.13 million, according to ONDA.
The number of passengers flying to South America hiked the most by 31.27 percent, to North America by 28 percent and to Europe by 14.87 percent, it said.
Morocco’s biggest airport, Mohammed V Airport in Casablanca, received 43 percent of the country’s global air traffic, up 5.68 percent year on year, it added.
In 2017, air traffic in Morocco grew by 11.63 percent from 2016 to reach a record high of over 20.35 million people.
