Paris – A delegation of observers from the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe will take part in monitoring the legislative elections of November 25, the European institute said in a statement.
The delegation, led by Czech Senator Tomas Jirsa, will arrive in Morocco on November 22 to oversee the election process in different regions.
The PACE delegation will meet with representatives of parliamentary groups, the President of the National Human Rights Council, as well as civil society activists and the media, the same source said.
The PACE had already visited Morocco on November 9-12 to observe pre-elections. During the visit, the European observers “noted with satisfaction that the electoral law has been improved, enabling to hold free and fair elections, wishing that it would be applied in good faith by the major political actors.”
Earlier this year, the PACE granted the Moroccan parliament the status of ‘Partner for Democracy’.
