Thanks to its steady efforts and continental leadership in promoting solar and wind energy, Morocco reaped the award of “Best State Strategy” in the field of renewable energies at the Africa Investment Forum recently held in Paris.
The distinction was awarded ex-aequo to Côte d’Ivoire, in recognition of the efforts undertaken by the two African countries to promote the share of renewable energies in their overall electricity production.
Africa Investments Forum & Awards is an event dedicated to investment opportunities in the African continent. It brings together a large number of European and African decision-makers, as well as eminent African government figures.
Renewable energies are key to Morocco’s 2016-2030 National Strategy for Sustainable Development adopted recently in consultation with all national stakeholders, including the government, the private sector and civil society.
To achieve sustainable economic policy, Morocco banks on renewable energies as the bedrock to strike the sought balance between economic development and environmental protection. In this connection, the solar energy plan will help secure 52% of Morocco’s energy needs by 2030.
