The Moroccan city of Marrakech launched on Thursday electrical buses from China in a bid to improve transportation service and reduce pollution.
The buses will ensure the transportation of over 45,000 people a day.
After this step, Marrakech, which hosted the UN Climate Summit last year, has become the first Moroccan city to use these environment-friendly buses.
The use of these buses was scheduled in November 2016 to coincide with the holding of the UN summit, but the City Council decided to delay it for multiple reasons, among which the need to conduct further studies and train drivers.
Chinese bus manufacturer Yangtse signed with Moroccan companies an agreement for the establishment of a plant to produce electric buses for Moroccan and European markets.
