Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Gennady Gatilov received on November 7 the Personal Envoy of the UN Secretary General for Western Sahara, Christopher Ross.
A thorough exchange of views took place on issues related to the state of affairs in the Western Sahara settlement and progress in the negotiation process between Morocco and the Polisario Front.
The Russian side reiterated its principled stand on the need to continue the search for a mutually acceptable solution for the sides, aimed at achieving a sustainable settlement to this conflict on the basis of relevant UN Security Council resolutions.
In the conversation special emphasis was placed on assessment of the security situation in Western Sahara, in the overall context of the transformation processes in the North Africa region.
