Rabat – HM King Mohammed VI granted pardon to 317 convicts on Eid al-Adha (the Feast of the Sacrifice), Ministry of Justice said in a statement.
Five prisoners benefited from a pardon over their remaining prison term, while 202 had their prison term reduced.
Two inmates have seen their life sentence commuted into jail sentence.
Eighteen prisoners were granted pardon over their prison sentences. Imprisonment terms were pardoned and fines were maintained against 28 others.
Seven convicts had their imprisonment terms and fines annulled, and 55 others had their fines suspended.
Royal pardon is customary in the North African kingdom to mark national and religious holidays.
