Las Palmas – Canary Islands government hopes to “continue its cooperation with Morocco” for the creation of open trade zones,” as part of the European project of entrepreneurial revitalization actions for Trade, leisure and tourism (ADECOT), announced an official source of the autonomous community.

According to a statement from the Canary Islands Ministry of Trade, the Director General of Trade and consumption, Gustavo Matos, who has recently presented the results of the ADECOT Initiative to the Moroccan Ministry of Industry, Trade, and New Technologies, said that the project, 100 percent financed by funds from the European Union Cross-border Cooperation Program, “is meant to open up the market to Canary Islands entrepreneurs and traders in Morocco.”

In this context, a first project was carried out between January 2010 and June 2011 in the region of Agadir, which provides for preparing a vision of three open trade zones in Talborjt, Taroudant and Inezgane, with the support of the Moroccan Ministry of Industry, Agadir’s Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Services, the Canary Islands Company for Economic Development (PROEXCA) and the Federation of the Canary Islands urban zones.
