Morocco’s Grain Output Falls To 68 Million Quintals In 2014
RABAT, July 24 (BERNAMA-NNN-MAP) — Morocco’s grain output fell to 68 million quintals (6.8 million tonnes) this year from 97 million quintals in 2013, which was an exceptional crop year, says Agriculture and Fisheries Minister Aziz Akhannouch.
During the current crop year, farmers harvested 37 million quintals of wheat, 17 million quintals of barley and 14 million quintals of durum wheat, the minister said here Tuesday.
“The good distribution of rainfall, the farmers’ efforts and the permanent and constant commitment of the Department of Agriculture vis-a-vis the agricultural sector have contributed to achieve a promising crop year with a cereal output of 68 million quintals despite limited levels of rainfall,” he added.
