Rihanna has touched down in Morocco, and she’s already adopting the local fashions, in a traditional burqa. In the conservative country, modesty is the key, but that doesn’t mean style has to fall by the wayside. And Rihanna’s Arab-inspired ensemble is evidence of that! Sporting a solid black maxi dress (meeting the “no bare legs” requirement), a backward snapback, and, the pièce de résistance, a leopard print burqa, the pop singer’s look nailed both the cultural precedent of this Middle Eastern country and a style we’ve seen on the runways at home.

Designer Jeremy Scott’s SS 2013 collectionwas Arab-inspired, and featured looks that covered the faces and torsos of the models. While we may not be strutting our stuff on the street in full on face covering garb (yet), Jeremy’s runway pieces were undeniably edgy, almost bordering on sultry.

Who’s to say the trend won’t catch on, especially with style icon Rihanna sporting the look?
